Tire Amnesty Days

Leon County’s Tire Amnesty Days have returned and will run Friday, April 17, 2026, through Monday, May 18, 2026, giving Leon County residents a free and convenient way to dispose of old tires while helping reduce mosquito breeding grounds.

In partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the program allows County residents to drop off up to 24 tires at no cost at designated locations.

New this year, an additional drop-off location at Leon County Public Works, 1800 N. Blair Stone Road, will be open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., expanding access and making participation even more convenient for residents.

Tires may be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Leon County Solid Waste Facility, 7550 Apalachee Parkway
  • Fort Braden Rural Waste Center, 2485 E. Joe Thomas Road
  • Miccosukee Rural Waste Center, 13051 Miccosukee Road
  • Woodville Rural Waste Center, 549 Henry Jones Road
  • Leon County Public Works, 1800 N. Blair Stone Road

Tires without rims are preferred.

The Leon County Solid Waste Facility is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Rural Waste Service Centers are open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Participants must present a valid ID verifying Leon County residency. Commercial loads will not be accepted, and only tires will be collected during this event.

Improperly stored tires can collect standing water and create ideal conditions for mosquitoes, which can carry diseases such as Zika, West Nile and dengue. By participating in Tire Amnesty Days, residents can help protect public health while keeping their properties clean.
