Commissioner Nick Maddox has served the citizens of Leon County since 2010.

Nick Maddox is a remarkable individual whose passion for making a positive impact on the lives of others has shaped him into an inspiring figure in both the non-profit and political realms. As the CEO of Family Promise of the Big Bend and Chair of the esteemed Leon County Commission, Nick has proven himself as a visionary leader with a heart of gold, determined to bring about real change and uplift those in need.

Nick's unwavering commitment to community welfare began in the public sphere over a decade ago. He was elected to serve the citizens of Leon County in 2010, on a mission to bring diversity, increased transparency and community engagement, and work tirelessly to ensure Leon County’s most vulnerable citizens have adequate resources and are cared for.  As a three-time Chairman of the Leon County Commission (2012-2013, 2017-2018 and 2022-2023), he has steered the region toward growth, unity, and progress. With a knack for building bridges between diverse groups, Nick has facilitated collaborative efforts to address critical issues, leaving no one behind.  In 2019-2020, he also served as the President of the Florida Association of Counties.  During the pandemic, he led with innovation and supported Florida's efforts to continue ensuring education, affordable housing and economic development.

Having been appointed in July of 2023 as  the new CEO of Family Promise of the Big Bend, Nick Maddox is now at the helm of a transformative organization that addresses homelessness and housing  with compassion and innovation. His visionary approach to tackling this pressing issue has resulted in tangible, life-changing solutions. He is committed to empowering families to regain their independence and dignity.

Beyond his remarkable achievements in the public sector, Nick's journey to success is woven with tales of perseverance and dedication, reminiscent of his illustrious football career. Early on, Nick excelled as a professional football player, captivating audiences with his skill and determination on the field. His prowess as a player mirrored his character: tenacious, strategic, and driven to overcome any challenge that came his way.

However, it was in the moments off the field where Nick's true spirit shone through. His genuine concern for the welfare of others was evident as he actively participated in various community service initiatives, displaying a profound empathy for those facing hardships. This innate desire to uplift and support others led Nick to transition from sports to a career centered around humanitarian efforts.

His journey from the football field to the forefront of humanitarian work and public service is a testament to the depth of his character and the boundless compassion he possesses. Nick Maddox has touched the lives of countless individuals, inspiring hope and instilling a sense of purpose in those he encounters.

Nick Maddox is the proud father of three children—two daughters—Nyla and Mylee, and a son, Nick Junior. A true family man, when Nick is not spending quality time with his children, he is out in the community utilizing his proficiencies in nonprofit management, executive leadership coaching, and fulfilling his purpose and commitment to a life of public service.

In a world where empathy and leadership are often in short supply, Nick Maddox stands out as a shining example of what true dedication and compassion can achieve. His unwavering commitment to serving the community, coupled with his inspiring journey from football fame to humanitarian leadership, make Nick an individual that the public can't help but admire, respect, and wholeheartedly support.
