County Commission Chairman and Mayor Sign Interlocal Agreement

On Thursday, May 19, 2005, a significant milestone was achieved as Leon County Commission Chairman Cliff Thaell and Tallahassee Mayor John Marks jointly penned a groundbreaking agreement. The agreement addresses the provision of parks and recreation services, fire services, and water and sewer services. This momentous accord marked a pivotal understanding between the Leon County Government and the City of Tallahassee, outlining their distinct roles and responsibilities.

The negotiations leading to this agreement were skillfully undertaken by Chairman Thaell and City Commissioner Allan Katz, who represented their respective commissions. The two commissioners were tapped by their peers to hammer out the details that resolve several complex issues between the  County and the City. Katz attended the signing ceremony and provided remarks.

The unanimous approval of this agreement by both the Leon County Board of County Commissioners and the Tallahassee City Commission in their respective May 2005 meetings further underscores the widespread recognition of its importance and the collective commitment to fostering a harmonious and cooperative local governance framework.
