Join Leon County Government for a morning in nature at the Lake Carr Invasives Shoreline Cleanup. Citizens will work alongside the Office of Sustainability to remove aquatic invasive species from the shoreline and shallow waters of Lake Carr at Cedar Hill Landing in an effort to keep the lake and surrounding ecosystems safe and healthy.
The event will include an informational presentation from County staff on local aquatic invasive species and guidance on how and what plants should be removed from the area. Buckets, gloves, and shovels will be available. Attendees should dress in comfortable clothes and close-toed shoes. Removing invasive species will involve treading through mud and shallow water, as well as touching and handling plant-life and dirt. Attendees are encouraged to bring any additional tools or attire that are relevant and helpful to them for participating in these tasks. Refreshments will be provided before beginning removal activities.
