Sound Booth

Whether you're a seasoned professional, a budding podcaster, a student, or just curious, our state-of-the-art Sound Booth is available for free using your library card.

The Sound Booth is located on the second floor of the Leon County Main Library, located at 200 West Park Avenue.

The Sound Booth features:

  • RODECaster Pro II console
  • Four PodMics, boom arms, and headphones
  • Dell Pro PC and monitor
  • Two tables, two chairs, and one sofa

What Can You Do in the Sound Booth?

Our professionally equipped studio is designed to support a wide range of audio projects.

The Sound Booth can be used by job seekers to learn resume-ready audio skills, entrepreneurs to record professional voiceovers and podcasts without studio fees, teens to build STEAM confidence, history lovers to preserve local voices, and other voiceover projects.

  • Record a Podcast — Launch your show! Record solo episodes, interview guests, and perform all the necessary voice-over and editing work in a quiet, acoustically treated environment.
  • Lay Down Tracks — Musicians and songwriters can record vocals and acoustic instruments to produce high-quality demos, singles, or full albums.
  • Capture Voiceovers and Audiobooks — Need professional narration for a video, training module, or an audiobook? Our high-quality microphones capture crystal-clear voice recordings.
  • Edit and Mix Audio — Bring your existing audio files and use Audacity software to edit, mix, master, and polish your projects.
  • Practice Public Speaking for a Presentation — Use professional equipment to practice giving speeches or presentations and record yourself for critical self-review.

Booking Requirements

  • A library card is required to reserve and use the Sound Booth.
  • Users must show their library card and a photo ID during check in.
  • Only library cardholders 18 and older can reserve the Sound Booth. Minors may join recordings with an adult present.
  • Users must complete the brief Sound Booth training in Niche Academy before reserving the room. The reservation link is available at the end of the training.
  • Users can reserve the Sound Booth for up to three hours per day, with a maximum of 12 hours per month.
  • Users can have a maximum of four reservations at one time.

Room Guidelines

  • Reservations and cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
  • Food is prohibited in the Sound Booth.
  • Water with a secure lid is allowed but must be kept away from all equipment.
  • Users assume full responsibility and assure that no damage or loss will occur to the meeting space, furnishings, or equipment.
  • Library staff can help with accessing the Sound Booth and with general setup but cannot provide equipment training.
  • Up to four people can be in the Sound Booth at one time.
