Andy Johnson is Assistant to the County Administrator for Legislative and Strategic Initiatives for Leon County, Florida. In this role, Andy is responsible for administering the County’s state and federal legislative affairs program, developing policy analyses and recommendations on a variety of issues facing Leon County Government, coordinating special projects, and more. Since joining Leon County in 2014, Andy has led the development of After Action Reports for Hurricanes Hermine, Irma, and Michael, leading to the successful implementation of more than 200 specific recommendations to improve the County’s emergency management, response, and recovery efforts; planned and implemented COVID-19 relief and recovery assistance campaigns utilizing the County’s allocation of federal CARES Act and American Rescue Plan Act funds, successfully advanced several legislative policy initiatives and funding requests as the County’s in-house registered lobbyist, and more. Andy holds Master’s Degrees in Public Administration and Urban Planning as well as a certificate in Florida City and County Management from Florida State University and has served as a frequent presenter and adjunct professor in the Askew School of Public Administration and Policy at FSU.
