Leon County Goes Pink for October
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Leon County coordinates the following activities for Breast Cancer Awareness each October:
- Make pink lapel ribbons available during the October Board meeting and Board workshops;
- Publish October’s County LINK in pink, recognizing the month;
- Leon County EMS paramedics and EMTs use pink gloves, stethoscopes, scissors and sheets on calls throughout the month;
- Display breast cancer awareness books and materials at select Leon County library locations; and
- Update the Leon County website and social media pages with the pink County seal and logos.
Also, the Courthouse is illuminated in pink on Go Pink Day, the third Friday in October, as part of Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare's monthlong Go Pink campaign. Go Pink Day invites individuals and organizations to wear pink, “pink out” the town, and participate in awareness-raising activities to show their support.
