August 2024

Message from Library Director Pamela Monroe

Hi Friends,

Pardon our dust! Starting in August and lasting through fall 2025, we will be making big changes to the second floor at the downtown Main Library. During the renovation, access to some resources may be limited at times. Our staff is always ready to assist if you need help locating materials.

The renovations will allow us to offer more programs and services to meet the evolving needs of the community while also creating accessible space for citizens of all ages and abilities.

Some of the highlighted features of the upcoming renovation include:

  • Fourteen multi-use meeting rooms and gathering spaces
  • Career Corner workforce development hub with a career center and simulator lab, offering the hands-on, real-world experience of working with heavy equipment and machinery
  • Soundproof recording studio
  • Public computer areas
  • Accessible shelving
  • Enhanced directional signage
  • And so much more!

The Main Library will remain open throughout the renovations, but this also provides the perfect opportunity to visit other Leon County Public Library locations and see what makes each of them special.

Amazing things are happening!
Pamela Monroe, Library Director
