Sustainable Communities Summit Series: Lake Carr Invasives Shoreline Cleanup

Lake Carr Invasives Shoreline Cleanup

Join Leon County Government for a cleanup event at Cedar Hill Landing to remove invasive species, or non-native species, and litter from the shoreline and swallow waters of Lake Carr to support and protect the local ecosystem. Attendees can learn about the impacts of local aquatic invasive species, engage in the removal of litter and unwanted plants, and enjoy refreshments, community and the outdoors.

Fire Truck Round-Up

27th Annual Fire Truck Round-Up
Saturday, October 12, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Bring the whole family to the 27th Annual Leon County Fire Truck Round-Up on Saturday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will take place at Tom Brown Park by the dog park near Lake Leon and highlight the service and dedication of Leon County’s volunteer firefighters. Families can meet Leon County’s six volunteer fire departments, tour fire trucks, and take pictures with the firefighters and trucks. Come out and enjoy free food, music, and activities for kids, including a dunk tank with the volunteer firefighters, bounce houses, face painting, giveaways, and more.

Cultura Tallahassee: The Beauty of Our Heritage Exhibit Opening

Celebrate Hispanic culture, heritage, and history during the opening of the exhibit Cultura Tallahassee: The Beauty of Our Heritage at the Bruce J. Host Northeast Branch Library on Saturday, September 14, from 1-2 p.m. The exhibit features artwork from local artists and will be on display through October 14, 2024.

Leon County recognizes Florida Missing Children's Day on September 9, dedicated to remembering Florida’s missing children and honoring the efforts of law enforcement, community organizations, and individuals who work tirelessly to protect our children and ensure their safety. We encourage County residents to stay informed and enhance our community's responsiveness to missing persons alerts. By signing up for Missing Child and AMBER Alerts, you can play a crucial role in reuniting families and protecting our most vulnerable. County Supports Family Legacies with Land Use Policies

Considering subdividing your property for family heirs? Leon County offers specific policies that make it easier to create family heir subdivisions, allowing you to pass down property to direct relatives for homestead use, even if density rules would normally prevent it.

Leon County Private Road Repair Programs

Leon County Government manages the construction and upkeep of hundreds of miles of County public roads. We are also dedicated to helping neighborhoods with the repair and maintenance of private roadways through various programs.
