Centerville Road Lane Closure
Project Overview
This project is a vital safety improvement designed to add a dedicated left-turn lane for eastbound drivers entering the Centerville Trace Subdivision. Key upgrades include:
- Removal of outdated infrastructure.
- Installation of modern stormwater systems.
- Construction of new curbs and roadway modifications.
- Asphalt paving and roadway striping.
The dedicated turn lane will improve safety by creating a designated waiting area for left-turning drivers, reducing congestion, minimizing risky maneuvers, and enhancing overall traffic flow. The project remains on schedule for completion by May 2025.
Once completed, these enhancements will provide long-term safety and efficiency for all who live, work, and travel in the area.
An alternative route to alleviate congestion is also available below.
Traffic Management
Leon County recognizes the frustration caused by road construction and remains fully committed to minimizing delays, expediting work, and ensuring safety for all drivers and workers. To address immediate concerns, staff engineers have evaluated and optimized the temporary traffic control light for the Centerville Trace turn lane construction project. Additionally, traffic control personnel are on-site to monitor and address issues in real time. To further mitigate delays, the County is actively adjusting the temporary traffic light cycle timing to align with peak AM and PM travel patterns and improve traffic flow.
