Education Programs

Do you want to learn more about Solid Waste, Recycling, and Sustainability?

Invite the County’s Sustainability Programs Coordinator to your classroom, organization, or community group to learn about the County's existing sustainability efforts and how you can build a culture of sustainability within your organization.

This program provides public education about the role our residents play in solid waste management and responsible resource stewardship. Leon County produces 800-1,000 tons of garbage daily. More than half of that garbage can be reused, recycled, or composted.

Many easily recyclable items can sit in a landfill for up to 1,000 years. By making sure we are mindful of our waste practices, we can help reduce the need for more landfills.

If you’d like to know more about recycling and sustainability, email Sustainability@LeonCountyFL.gov to request a free presentation.
