Leon County’s CosmicCon Celebrates Cosplay, Comics, and Community

Enter a world of fantasy and fandoms during Leon County Government’s fifth annual CosmicCon, a celebration of comic books, graphic novels, gaming, sci-fi, artwork, and pop culture, on Saturday, August 26, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Leon County Main Library, 200 West Park Avenue. Attendees of all ages will have the opportunity to participate in events and activities, including a local artist talk and hands-on workshop, related to this year’s theme, “Found Family.”
Fantastic CosmicCon programming includes:
- Escape Rooms – Space Escape throughout the event – Solve puzzles to guard the galaxy and make your great escape.
- Screen Printing Workshop at 11:30 a.m. – Learn about screen printing with Tally Print Studios and receive a CosmicCon screen printed tote bag.
- Cosplay Meet-up from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. – Wear your favorite fandom cosplay, meet up with other cosplayers, and take photos with different backdrops.
- DIY Boba and Crafting from 12-1 p.m. – Learn to make boba tea and then enjoy it while you make your very own boba keychain craft.
- Christopher Burdett – Magic the Gathering Cards Illustrator from 1:30-2:30 p.m. – Hear from local artist Christopher Burdett about creating monsters for Magic: The Gathering and how this expanded his career in games, films, and television. This event will be followed by a Q&A session.
- Pokémon Bingo at 2:30 p.m. – Join us for a game of bingo, Pokémon style! Those who catch ‘em all will be rewarded with Pokémon cards.
In addition to these events, all library locations will be hosting activities, including tabletop gaming, comic book giveaways, scavenger hunts, cosplay photo booths, and opportunities to create a comic book.
