3 p.m.: Dedication Ceremony
Leon County Courthouse
301 S. Monroe Street

You're invited to the retirement celebration and courthouse dedication ceremony of the Leon County Courthouse in honor of Judge Augustus D. Following the retirement celebration, the dedication ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. on the Courthouse front lawn where the name will be unveiled. During the dedication ceremony, the Leon County Courthouse will be renamed the Judge Augustus D. Aikens, Jr. Leon County Courthouse.

During his tenure as a Leon County Judge, he established the Leon County Veterans Treatment Court in 2015, a program that provides critical support to veterans and service members facing mental health or substance abuse challenges. His leadership in this area is informed by his own 30-year military career, which includes earning the Bronze Star during Operation Desert Storm and retiring as a Colonel.
