The Excellence in Volunteer Management Training Series is a three-day, comprehensive program that equips volunteer coordinators, nonprofit leaders, program managers, and anyone responsible for overseeing volunteers with tools to strengthen volunteer engagement, improve program efficiency, and enhance leadership skills. Participants who complete the series will receive the Excellence in Volunteer Management Certificate.

The Leon Works Junior Apprenticeship Program provides a platform for high school juniors and seniors to immerse themselves in a skilled career field, earn an hourly salary, and receive class credit. Apprentices will have the opportunity to train with experts in a variety of Leon County departments and fast-track their career goals. Applications are open for the fall 2026 semester for the following positions:

• Computer Aided Design (CAD)

• Construction Contract Management

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)/Paramedic

• Fleet Mechanic

• Graphic and Digital Design

• Information Technology

• Medical Administration

Make connections and build opportunities as an exhibitor during the 11th annual Leon Works Expo. Leon County Government and the Tallahassee-Leon County Office of Economic Vitality will host the Expo on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. This is a unique opportunity to connect high school students who will soon be entering the workforce with potential employers and the chance to explore skilled careers.

SafeSense is Leon County's free workshop designed to help you navigate the internet safely and confidently, at your own pace. Topics include recognizing scams, securing your phone and accounts, online banking and video calls, and understanding AI. No experience necessary, just curiosity. Join us Thursday, March 26, at 11:30 a.m. at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Library, 200 West Park Avenue. Lunch will be served.
