County Launches New Texting Program to Schedule Inspections and More

The County's new program offers a fast way to schedule inspections and receive status updates

To better serve citizens, Leon County Government proudly announces the launch of Text-to-Inspect, a service from SelecTxt that allows contractors to utilize text messaging to schedule, reschedule, or cancel inspections and obtain inspection results on their Leon County building permits.

“With the introduction of Text-to-Inspect, scheduling an inspection and reviewing the status of inspection results has never been easier,” said Leon County Commission Chairman Bill Proctor. “Leon County continues to set the bar for engaging with our community.”

To get started, users can send text commands, like “Schedule” or “Results,” to 855-927-1525. Through the SelecTXT program, builders can find results for HVAC changeout, drywall, mechanical ductwork, and so much more. In addition to SelecTXT, developers can continue to schedule inspections or obtain results via phone by calling 850-606-1306, or by visiting the Tallahassee-Leon County Permit Portal at TLCPermits.org.

“Leon County teams are always looking for new and innovative ways to further improve our services for the citizens we serve,” said Leon County Administrator Vincent S. Long. “The newly launched Text-to-Inspect program keeps the building process quickly moving with immediate assistance, even after hours.”

Text-to-Inspect is one of many digital services provided by Leon County to deliver professional, helpful, and value-added engagement to the community. Other services include the Leon County ROKU channel that provides Leon County updates and live coverage of all commission meetings, and the Text-to-911 program that allows residents to text 9-1-1 in emergency situations when calling is not an option.

“In the department of Development Support and Environmental Management (DSEM), we work with contractors, builders and citizens every day,” said Leon County Director of DSEM Barry Wilcox. “This new process will make it easier for the builders we work with to keep track of where they are in the process, whether they are in their office or out in the field.”
