FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 30, 2024

Points of Distribution to Cease Operations at 7 P.M. Today, September 30

Due to the substantial recovery of our community following Hurricane Helene, Leon County Government, in coordination with the State of Florida, announces the closure of the five Points of Distribution (PODs). All POD locations will cease operations at 7 p.m. today, Monday, September 30.

The closure is part of a coordinated effort to make further assistance available to communities in the eastern Big Bend, which sustained significant impacts from the storm.

The following POD locations will be closing at 7 p.m.:

  • Leon County Jane G. Sauls Fort Braden Branch Library, 16327 Blountstown Hwy.
  • Leon County J. Lewis Sr. Woodville Park and Recreation Complex, 1492 J. Lewis Hall Sr. Ln.
  • Leon County Fred George Greenway Park, 4830 Fred George Rd.
  • Leon County Apalachee Regional Park, 7550 Apalachee Pkwy.
  • Leon County Miccosukee Community Center, 13887 Moccasin Gap Rd.
Each POD site has provided water, shelf-stable meals, and tarps free of charge to residents in need since Saturday, September 28.
