Message from Library Director Pamela Monroe
As summer vacations start to wind down and we prepare the kiddos for returning to school, here are just a few things YOUR public library has to offer for the new school year.
- Homework Hub - Starting back up in September, Homework Hub is our in-person and virtual tutoring program for kindergarten to eighth grade students.
- Book the Teen Lab for Your Home School Group - Our Teen Lab at the Main Library includes 12 computers, a glass writing board, and two 82-inch televisions, where home school leaders can teach, have students do presentations, and use library resources. Booking is a breeze with a valid library card.
- Online Research at Your Fingertips - Writing a paper and Googling won't do? Use your library card to access databases including EBSCO, Gale, and the Florida Electronic Library.
- Volunteer Opportunities - Our Teen Advisory Board is always looking for volunteers. This active group helps plan library programs and gives a fresh teen perspective on how the library can support them personally and academically.
- Check Out a Book - This post wouldn't be complete without a reading suggestion. There are MANY titles, genres, and formats available for all ages to choose from. Try our Book Nook Bundles for early literacy, Sunshine State Young Readers Award winners for elementary and middle school, and our young adult section is bursting with new titles that will keep the young and young at heart immersed all year long.
No matter the season, the Leon County Public Library is here for you with helpful staff, fun and engaging programming for all ages, and plenty of resources to help you learn. Stay informed about the great new things happening at your public library by following us on Facebook and Instagram.
Amazing things are happening!
Pamela Monroe, Library Director

Are you ready to become a library book super user? By using the Interlibrary Loan Borrowing System (ILLiad), you can suggest purchases directly to the library or request to borrow print books from another library if we don’t carry them. This is a great way for us to get feedback on the types of books our community wants to read, and it gives you access to even more books we don’t own. To use ILLiad, you will need to create an account, which is different from your library account. If you already have an ILLiad account, you can simply log in. The form is the same for suggesting a purchase or requesting a book, and you will select which option you’re requesting. |
