Leon County and the American Legion will honor our hometown heroes during the annual Operation Thank You Veterans Day breakfast. Breakfast will be served from 6:30 to 9 a.m. The program begins at 8 a.m., when the County will present two proclamations honoring Chief Master Sergeant Charles LeCroy, U.S. Air Force veteran who completed 22 years of service, and Military Police Officer Timothy Griffith, U.S. Army veteran who completed nine years of service.

Adopt A Tree
Leon County Adopt-A-Tree Program
 
For more than 30 years, Leon County Government has proudly supported our native ecosystem through the Adopt-A-Tree Program, which provides unincorporated County residents the opportunity to have a tree planted on their property for free. Now through January 31, 2026, residents can choose from three tree varieties while supplies last: Pawpaw, American Elm, and Blackgum.

In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, learn about the music and soundscapes of the Apalachee community at Mission San Luis and the musical traditions of 17th- and 18th-century Native Americans in Tallahassee with Florida State University professor of musicology Dr. Sarah Eyerly.

Get Your Tickets Now to Experience the World Athletics Cross Country Championships Tallahassee 26

Tickets are now on sale for the World Athletics Cross Country Championships Tallahassee 26 on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Leon County Apalachee Regional Park, 7550 Apalachee Parkway. Tickets start at $10, with free admission for children 12 years and under.

Registration is also open for the World’s Fun Run: Florida Edition, a community event held immediately following the championship races. Participants can choose between a 2km or 4km distance, earn a commemorative medal, and take on the same Florida-inspired obstacles faced by the world’s top competitors. Registration is $25 per person and includes full-day entry into the park. All Leon County students aged 12 and under can participate in the Kids Athletics 2km race for free.

Litter impacts more than just the appearance of our community; it impacts our parks, roads, waterways, and overall environment. Leon County encourages everyone to do their part to keep our community clean and beautiful. Whether you’re at a park, on the road, or in your own neighborhood, please take a moment to properly dispose of trash and recyclables. Even the smallest actions, like holding on to litter until you find a bin, make a big difference.

Whether you’re launching your first idea or ready to grow, this event offers tools and inspiration to help turn your vision into a successful business venture.

Seventh Annual Gingerbread House Competition
Sugar and spice and all things nice are in store during the Leon County Public Library's seventh annual Community Gingerbread House Competition! Put your design skills to the test in this family-friendly competition for a chance to win prizes. The competition will take place on Saturday, December 6, from 1-4 p.m. at the downtown Main Library, 200 W. Park Ave., where one winner from each division will be selected.
