Throughout hurricane season, the County will continue to share preparedness tips and resources across social media to help develop a prepared and resilient community.

Check your mailbox for the 2026-27 Disaster Survival Guide and pick up additional copies at your nearest Leon County Public Library location.

Citizen Engagement Series: Disaster Resilience Edition
Thursday, June 18, starting at 6 p.m.
Public Safety Complex, 911 Easterwood Drive

Step behind the scenes at the Emergency Operations Center and learn how to prepare for disasters with local public safety experts. This interactive event will feature hands-on activities and demonstrations for the whole family.

Dinner and refreshments will be provided. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. This event includes walking between sessions. Limited mobility assistance will be available on site. If you need accessibility accommodations, please contact County Emergency Management at 850-606-3700 in advance so we can plan to support you.

Beyond Your Block — America 250 Edition

Get out, explore, and score prizes!

As America celebrates 250 years of freedom, Leon County is encouraging locals to explore Beyond Your Block to find all that’s great about our county, including its place in history.

Download the free Visit Tallahassee mobile app and click the "Challenges" tab to check in at participating locations and earn points. Six local historic sites featured on the America250FL Road Trip are part of the campaign and carry the highest point value, making them great stops on your journey!

The first 50 participants to reach 250 points earn a limited-edition America 250 Tallahassee commemorative t-shirt. Plus, every check-in counts as an entry in the grand prize sweepstakes for a two-night Tallahassee staycation with hotel accommodations, dining and tickets to local activities. Additionally, the Leon County Division of Tourism will host on-site activations at six partner locations throughout the program will feature “Summer Essentials” prize packs. Pop-up locations will be announced on Visit Tallahassee’s social media pages.

The Beyond Your Block summer program is designed to drive visitor and resident traffic to support local businesses and to showcase the unique draw of our community.

All summer long, Leon County Government and Second Harvest of the Big Bend are proud to offer free healthy, packaged meals to kids and teens 18 and under at Leon County Public Library locations. No registration is required.
