Join Leon County Government, the Children’s Services County of Leon County, and Children’s Home Society of Florida for the grand opening of the Fort Braden Family Resource Center.

This new neighborhood-based resource hub will provide Fort Braden families with access to parenting support, job training, mental health services, financial literacy, and other essential resources—all in one accessible location.

The event will include a program and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m., followed by a family fun day with food, family-friendly activities, and engagement opportunities with service providers.

Apply for a Summer Job with Leon County!
Leon County Government is now accepting applications for the Summer Youth Training Program. In partnership with CareerSource Capital Region, the five-week Summer Youth Training Program provides young adults ages 14-24 years old job experience by working with a Leon County department over the summer. All positions are 20 hours per week and pay $13 per hour. Summer employment and training will run from Monday, June 23 through Friday, July 25, 2025.

Retire Old Rubber During Tire Amnesty Days
Leon County Government, in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, is hosting its annual Tire Amnesty Days program, a free tire collection to reduce mosquito breeding grounds. Now through Friday, May 16, 2025, citizens can drop off old tires for free at the following Leon County facilities:
- Leon County Solid Waste Facility, 7550 Apalachee Pkwy.
- Fort Braden Rural Waste Center, 2485 East Joe Thomas Rd.
- Miccosukee Rural Waste Center, 13051 Miccosukee Rd.
- Woodville Rural Waste Center, 549 Henry Jones Rd.
Residents may dispose of up to 25 passenger car tires free of charge. Commercial loads will not be accepted. Tires without rims are preferred.

Leon Works Expo Exhibitor Registration Closes April 11

Make connections and build opportunities as an exhibitor during the 10th annual Leon Works Expo!
Leon County Government and the Tallahassee-Leon County Office of Economic Vitality will host the Leon Works Expo on Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center. The Expo will connect hundreds of local high school students to employers and academic institutions, creating opportunities to explore careers in the skilled workforce.

The Expo provides exhibitors the opportunity to share positive experiences about their field and provides students with hands-on, interactive learning opportunities. The deadline to apply as an exhibitor is Friday, April 11.
