The Annual Volunteer Firefighter Fire Truck Round-Up
“Thank a Volunteer Firefighter Today

Volunteer firefighters are a special group. When ordinary people are running out of burning buildings, they are going into them. And without pay. Volunteers comprise 73% of firefighters in the United States.  Volunteer Firefighters are summoned to a wide array of emergencies across the Leon County everyday including fires, emergency medical incidents, natural disasters, hazardous materials incidents, water rescue emergencies, high-angle and confined space emergencies, and other general public service calls. The public relies on Volunteers to be their first line of defense in these emergencies. Volunteers spend an enormous amount of time training to prepare for these emergencies.

For the past 14 years, Leon County and lead partner, the Earl Bacon Insurance Agency have sponsored the Annual Volunteer Fire Truck Round-Up. This year, the event is being held on Saturday, October 4th in the SunTrust Bank parking lot located at 3522 Thomasville from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Leon County, Volunteer Fire Departments will be represented in full force. There are lots of fire trucks for the kids to climb on along with face painting, free give aways for children, hot dogs and drinks for everyone.

The Leon County Volunteer Fire Fighter of the Year will be announced on at 11:00 a.m., so bring the kids out for this day of celebration and let our home town heroes know how much our community appreciates their commitment to keeping us all safe. Volunteer Firefighters, protect more than our property, they protect our dreams!
