In addition to events, citizens can submit their best pet cosplay photos for a chance to win prizes, and themed grab-and-go swag bags with fun and engaging crafts and activities for all ages will be available at all Library locations starting August 14.

Our out-of-this-world CosmicCon programming includes:

  • Saturday, August 14 at 11 a.m., “Library Lecture Series: Drawing with Whimsy and Magic” – Kick off CosmicCon with a look inside the whimsical world of local illustrator Elizabeth Lampman Davis during this in-person discussion. The lecture will include a demonstration of her creative process from first sketch to final image. Citizens can also attend the lecture live via Zoom.
  • Monday, August 16 at 6:30 p.m., “How to Create a Mini Comic with Nathan Archer”  Learn the ins and outs of comic book creation from local artist Nathan Archer as you write, draw, and produce your very own mini comic during this virtual program.
  • Thursday, August 19 at 6:30 p.m., “You Can’t Believe Your Eyes with the National MagLab” – Enjoy optical illusions and hands-on experiments during this virtual program with the National MagLab.
  • Saturday, August 21 at 11 a.m., “Monsters and Magic: Card Illustration with Christopher Burdett”  Hear from local artist Christopher Burdett about creating monsters for Magic the Gathering and how this expanded his career. This virtual event will be followed by a Q&A session.
