Tallahassee-Leon County to Host Rural Economic Development Forum

As part of public engagement efforts to update the Land Use and Mobility Elements of the Tallahassee-Leon County Comprehensive Plan, Tallahassee-Leon County Planning will host a Rural Economic Development Forum on Thursday, April 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Woodville Community Center, 8000 Old Woodville Rd. This forum will provide attendees insight into the economic opportunity that the rural lands of Leon County hold.
The event will feature a short presentation followed by a discussion among a panel of experts sharing their unique perspectives on topics including the economic impact of the Red Hills conservation lands in Leon County, allowable development in rural lands with a specific emphasis on regulations concerning agritourism, the unique qualities of the Big Bend Scenic Byway, the importance of canopy roads to the character and economy of Leon County and how placemaking in our rural communities can contribute to the culture, tourism and economic attraction of our rural areas.
The panel will include:

- Scott Brockmeier, Development Services Administrator, Leon County DSEM, Panelist
- Del Suggs, Chairman for the Big Bend Scenic Byways Management Group, Panelist
- Forrest Watson, Chairperson for the Tallahassee-Leon County Canopy Roads Citizens Committee, Panelist
- Jennette Duncan, Planner, DesignWorks Division of the TLC Planning Dept., Panelist
