Vaccination is a critical tool for containing COVID-19 and minimizing its adverse impact. Ongoing efforts to distribute the vaccine safely, efficiently, and equitably must include strategies to ensure that vaccines reach communities that face barriers to accessing medical care and people who have historical mistrust of the medical community and vaccines.
The Tallahassee-Leon County Coronavirus Vaccination Community Education and Engagement Taskforce (the Taskforce) is pleased to announce a second round of funding for community and faith-based organizations designed to reduce vaccine hesitancy and increase vaccinations in communities of color. To that end, the Taskforce will offer 10 program grants of up to $5,000 each to eligible partners.
Taskforce grants will be used to support projects and programs that are in line with Leon County Government and City of Tallahassee efforts to inform and educate underrepresented communities about the vaccine, provide solutions that reduce barriers associated with vaccine access and ultimately result in individuals and families making an informed decision to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
