In collaboration with Native Nurseries, Leon County Government encourages citizens to cultivate native plants by offering a buy one get one free sale of native plants. The third annual event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Native Nurseries starting at 8 a.m. until supplies run out. Native plants are an important part of our ecosystem that help support native wildlife and pollinators. Native plants can:
- Create healthy places for people: Choosing native plants for your landscaping, supports a healthy natural ecosystem and creates a healthier place for yourself, your family and your community.
- Help the Climate: Incorporating native trees, like oaks, maples and pines, are very effective at storing the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide and help mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.
- Provide Savings: When planted in the right place, plants adapt to local environmental conditions with little maintenance - saving time, money and water.
- Save Wildlife: Native plants help serve the food chain by providing nectar for pollinators including hummingbirds, bees, butterflies and bats, while also producing nuts, seeds and fruits for all other forms of wildlife.
The sale will be available until supplies last. Up to $100 value per person/per transaction. Offer only valid to individuals, not businesses.
