Safety Improvements Prompt Temporary Closure at the Miccosukee Greenway Trail

WHO: Leon County
WHAT: Temporary Closure of Fleischmann Road trail head at Miccosukee Greenway
WHEN: Tuesday, September 6 through December 2016
WHERE: Fleischmann Road trail head at Miccosukee Greenway

Leon County Government announces a temporary closure of the Fleischmann Road trail head at the Miccosukee Greenway from Tuesday, September 6 through December 2016.

During the closure, Leon County will construct an 8 to 12 foot wide trail with a uniform pervious surface topped with crushed shell product from a local coastal mine. Improvements will also include the covering and protection of exposed tree roots, erosion repairs and control measures, and stabilization of the trail surface.

The two-mile length of trail to be improved runs between the Fleischmann Road trail head and Edenfield Road trail head. The 8 to 12 foot width trail will not require the removal of any trees, and improvements are being made within the existing trail footprint.

All other entrances and trail heads to the Miccosukee Greenway will remain open while improvements are ongoing.
