Join Leon County Government for the next award-winning Library Lecture Series on Monday, February 21 at 6 p.m. at the downtown Main Library. Florida A&M University Assistant Professor Dr. Kendra Mitchell will lead an interactive and interpretive discussion about the life and works of American novelist Toni Morrison. The lecture will consider Toni Morrison’s journey as an author for her community and her activism as an editor and publisher of Black writers.
Toni Morrison is the author of 11 novels as well as children’s books, essay collections, and nonfiction works that explore themes of family, community, and race. As one of the most celebrated authors in the world, her work continues to inspire generations of writers and thinkers.

This Library Lecture is part of the 2022 National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read featuring Toni Morrison’s 1987 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Beloved. Learn more about the 2022 NEA Big Read events happening throughout February and March at LeonCountyFL.gov/BigRead.
