Neighborhood Recognition Program Application Deadline Extended

Neighborhood Recognition Program Application Deadline Extended
Workshop Offered to Help Neighborhoods with Application

Neighborhoods are the backbone of a community, creating strong networks and working to improve area conditions. Share your neighborhood’s story by submitting it for the 2017 Neighborhood Recognition Program. This program honors those neighborhoods and neighbors that have done outstanding work during the past year. The deadline to apply has been extended through Friday, May 12, at 5 p.m.

Applying is easy, and we’re here to help walk you through the process. A workshop will be hosted on Thursday, May 4, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Myers Park Community Room, 912 Myers Park Drive. At the workshop, City and County staff will provide one-on-one assistance in an informal, open house format.

The Neighborhood Recognition Program is a joint effort from the City of Tallahassee, Leon County Government and Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA). Neighborhoods will be selected for honors in three categories: Small - 200 or fewer homes; Large - more than 200 homes; and Unincorporated Area - outside the city limits. It also honors the Neighbor of the Year, which is given to an individual who exemplifies the characteristics of leadership and service in making contributions to his or her community. Additionally, CONA is accepting nominations for its 2017 Public Servant of the Year and 2017 Business Neighbor of the Year.

Winners will be announced at the 37th Annual Awards Reception in June. More information about the awards reception will be shared closer to the event.
