More than 8,000 Tons and 2,000 Truckloads of Debris Collected and Counting
County and City Continue Work to Remove Debris after Hurricane Hermine
This week, Leon County Government and the City of Tallahassee continued removing yard waste, demolition debris and other materials. In less than one week, more than 2,000 truckloads of debris have been collected from residents and businesses. Debris collected now exceeds 8,483 tons.
Many citizens in the city limits and the unincorporated areas have already been serviced, however all customers can expect pick up of storm-related debris to occur during the next two weeks with crews working through the weekends.
Debris removal will be picked up according to zones. After the first pass, crews will return to zones to clear debris as residents continue removing debris from their properties. More information about the zones and schedule for pickup can be found at www.LeonCountyFL.gov/EI or www.Talgov.com .
All debris for collection should be placed curbside between the sidewalk or property line and the curb. Debris should be separated at the curb into the following categories: vegetative, construction and demolition, appliances and white good, electronics, and household hazardous waste.
