Leon County to Open Comfort Station Following Hurricane Michael

Leon County to Open Comfort Station Following Hurricane Michael

To help recover from Hurricane Michael, Leon County will open the downtown LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Library as a comfort station to provide snacks, air conditioning, public computer access, a place to charge a tablet or phone, check out materials and much more. The comfort station will open Friday, October 12 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and is located at the Main Library, 200 W. Park Ave.

Days before Michael brought high winds and rain, Leon County staged needed supplies at the Main Library in anticipation of a severe storm. With school scheduled to remain closed on Friday, October 12, the Main Library comfort station can be used as a resource for families and others impacted by Michael. And for this period of time, you do not need a library card or be a Leon County resident to use the library’s various services.

The Leon County Main Library will be staffed by County librarians and volunteers to help meet the needs of the community as we recover from Michael. Information on services offered by non-profit organizations to recover from disasters will be available.

For additional emergency information, visit http://www.LeonCountyFL.gov/ei or call the Leon County Citizens Information Line at (850) 606-3700.
