Leon County to Hold Home Replacement Ceremony
WHO: Leon County
WHAT: Home Replacement and Housewarming Ceremony
WHEN: Friday, October 18 at 2 p.m.
WHERE: 13036 Driftwood Circle
Leon County will host a Home Replacement and Housewarming Ceremony on Friday, October 18 at 2 p.m. at 13036 Driftwood Circle for homeowner Felicia Gilyard.
Ms. Gilyard’s mobile home sustained damage during the March 2019 Baum Community tornado including damage to the skirting, roof, windows, siding and the water well. During the tornado, Ms. Gilyard’s well was struck by lightning, the roof was severely damaged and a hole was punctured through the wall. Due to the extent of damage, Leon County Housing Services staff determined that it would be best to replace Ms. Glyard’s mobile home with a site-built home. Using funding provided by the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP), the new home features new appliances, energy efficient windows, a new well system and a central HVAC system.
A tour of the home will be available to media following the press conference. Media will also have the opportunity to speak with the homeowner and Leon County officials.
