Leon County will celebrate 100 years of the Old Fort Braden School, now the Fort Braden Community Center, on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Built in 1926, the schoolhouse served Fort Braden students until 1993 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The family-friendly event will feature free food, music, games and activities, along with a chance to connect with neighbors, local organizations and community partners.
At 11:30 a.m., County officials, County staff and members of the Fort Braden community will share remarks on the site’s 100-year history.
Attendees will get a first look at the new Fort Braden History Wall, a timeline of significant events and photos installed inside the community center.
Residents can bring historical photos of Fort Braden to be scanned on-site, or submit them online, for possible inclusion in the History Wall’s digital display. Learn more and submit photos at LeonCountyFL.gov/FBCC100.
