At the kickoff event, residents will also have the opportunity to meet with UF/IFAS Leon County Cooperative Extension Master Gardener volunteers and learn how to start a spring garden as well as best practices for seeding spring veggies, raised bed gardening, healthy cooking and more.

The seed varieties for spring 2020 are Italian Large Leaf Basil, Contender Beans, Straight Eight Cucumbers, Black Beauty Eggplant, Red Malabar Spinach, Zipper Cream Southern Peas, Spaghetti Squash, Brandywine Tomatoes, Chadwick Cherry Tomatoes and Sugar Baby Watermelon.

The Seed Library Program began in 2015 as a way to promote heirloom vegetable seed planting in Leon County and to encourage residents to grow their own nutritious food.
