NEA Big Read-Leon County Kickoff Event

Join us on Saturday, March 7 at 3 p.m. at the Leon County Main Library for our NEA Big Read-Leon County kickoff event of "Borne" by Jeff VanderMeer. National best-selling author, Jeff VanderMeer, will be our keynote speaker for the kickoff and will be discussing his book "Borne" and its themes. We will be giving out free copies of his book "Borne" to attendees. This event is free and open to the public.

Escape Rooms

Can you escape our post-apocalyptic escape room?

Time is running out as Wick is scrambling to find medicine he needs to survive in the ruined city. In order to escape the room, teams of 2-4 people must break the codes and find the medicine Wick needs before its too late.

Mars Attacks! at the All Saints Cinema

Join us on Sunday, March 15 at 5 p.m. as the Tallahassee Film Society in partnership with the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library System will be showing Mars Attacks! In this hilarious film, mean, green invaders from the angry red planet attempt to take over the Earth.

Free admission for attendees.

Weird but Wonderful Carnivorous Plants of North Florida

Most people have at least heard of carnivorous plants and maybe have even grown a Venus fly trap at some time in their lives. The plants have fascinated scientists since Linneaus and Darwin because they upset the food chain by eating animals. But, most Tallahasseans are not aware that our local forests, savannas, and bogs are host to over 30 species of these interesting plants.

Join us on Thursday, March 12 at 6 p.m. at the Leon County Main Library as Dr. Tom Miller speaks about the diversity of carnivorous plants in our area, how they work and their ecology, and where you might go to observe these plants on your own.

Celebrate Art in March

This exhibit is in honor of National Youth Art Month and partners with Leon County Public Elementary Schools. Artwork on display is from K-5 students at the Main Library throughout March. Why art? Our young people today, more than ever, need the arts as a forum for communication, imagination, safe expression, exploration and historical and cultural understanding.

DIY Slime!

Create your own slime at the Woodville Branch Library on Saturday, March 21 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

MagLab Presents Science Night @ the County Main Library

Enjoy hands-on science activities every fourth Thursday at the Leon County Main Library at 6 p.m. This program is offered by the MagLab and designed for 1st-5th grade students (though all ages are welcome).

Annie Get Your Glue Gun Crafting Meetup

Thursday, March 12 & April 9 from 3-5 p.m

BYOC (Bring Your Own Craft) to this crafter’s meetup at the Leon County Main Library the second Thursday of every month at 3 p.m. Bring a project to work on plus share your ideas and tips with others. Have a crafting question? We have a book for that! You can take advantage of the Library’s crafting collection during this meetup. Light refreshments will be provided.

Pop-Up Book Club

Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m.

The Pop-Up Book Club is a great way to explore wonderful books, meet new friends and sample a variety of food and drink around Tallahassee-Leon County. We meet at a different venue every 2nd Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. Join us on March 14 at Au Peche Mignon, 220 North Duval Street, as we discuss The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead.
