Leon County announces virtual summer programming for all ages hosted by the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library. During the months of June and July, entertaining and educational summer programming will focus on the theme “Tails and Tales,” celebrating animal stories. Animal encounters, workshops, yoga classes, story times, trivia and games will be offered.
In addition to virtual events, themed grab-and-go adventure bags with fun and engaging crafts and activities for children and families will be available each week at all library locations. Families can also pick up a reading log to track their great summer reads. Complete the one-page log, attend a free program, or pick up an adventure bag for a chance to win exciting summer prizes.
Virtual summer programming includes:
- Thursday, June 10 at 2:00 p.m., “Whooo Ate Whooom: Owl Pellet Take & Make Food Workshop” – Meet an owl from the St. Francis Wildlife Association, learn about how owl pellets are formed, and then dissect a real barn owl pellet to reconstruct and label skeletons of the owl’s prey. Adventure bags with an owl pellet can be picked up beginning June 2.
