On Friday, April 12, Leon County Government and the Tallahassee-Leon County Office of Economic Vitality will host approximately 650 high school students from Leon and surrounding counties at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center for the eighth annual Leon Works Expo. The Expo connects nearly 100 employers and academic institutions with high school students to provide an opportunity for them to explore skilled careers in the areas of health, trade, business, information technology, creative, and more. Students will learn from individuals with local success stories and engage with employers in person to discover the career that best fits them.Â

By 2026, over 70,000 jobs that require more than a high school diploma, but less than a four-year college degree will be available in Leon County and the surrounding region. More than 100 employers from local businesses, organizations, and academic institutions will be present to share positive experiences about their field and provide students with hands-on, interactive learning opportunities.

The Expo will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude after a brief closing ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Media partners are encouraged to attend at 10 a.m. Â

Since 2015, Leon County’s Leon Works Expo has connected more than 7,000 high school students to more than 500 academic institutions, private businesses, non-profit agencies, and public sector partners.
