September is National Preparedness Month, and Leon County encourages you to be Leon Ready. Take steps to make sure your family and neighbors are well-prepared. Review your emergency plans, assemble essential supplies, stay informed, and be sure to check in on elderly family members and neighbors.

Cultura Tallahassee: Together We Shine Exhibit Opening

Saturday, September 16, from 12-2 p.m.
Leon County Main Library, 200 West Park Avenue 

Leon County kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month with an opening of the exhibit, Cultura Tallahassee: Together We Shine, at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Library on Saturday, September 16, from 12-2 p.m. The exhibit features artwork from local artists in celebration of Hispanic culture, heritage, and history. The exhibit will be on display from September 15 through October 14, 2023.

Rhythms of Panama: A Journey Through Dance and Culture

Thursday, September 21, at 6 p.m.
Leon County Main Library, 200 West Park Avenue 

Enjoy an evening of dance in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Join Leon County Government for an immersive performance by Simply Panama as they explore Panamanian history and culture through folkloric dance. During the performance, attendees can also delight in Panamanian fare and coffee from Habana’s Boardwalk.

Join Leon County and Envision Credit Union for the Family Financial Education Series: How to Increase Your Credit Score and learn how to build and improve your credit score to create a brighter financial future for yourself and your family. Food will be served, and attendees will have the chance to win a gift card.

26th Annual Fire Truck Round Up

Saturday, October 7, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Tom Brown Park, Easterwood Drive

Bring the whole family to the 26th annual Leon County Fire Truck Round Up on Saturday, October 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will take place at Tom Brown Park by the dog park near Lake Leon and highlight the service and dedication of Leon County’s volunteer firefighters. Families can meet Leon County’s six volunteer fire departments, tour fire trucks, and take pictures with the firefighters and trucks. Come out and enjoy free food, music, and activities for kids, including a dunk tank with the volunteer firefighters, bounce houses, face painting, giveaways, and more.
