Leon County Adopt-A-Tree Program

For over 30 years, Leon County Government has proudly supported our native ecosystem through the Adopt-A-Tree Program, which provides County residents the opportunity to have a tree planted on their property for free. Applications are now being accepted through January 31, 2023, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Book Feast: A STEM and Craft Event

Join the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library System as we serve up exciting crafts and STEM activities for the whole family featuring food-related children’s books. Activities will be inspired by children’s books, like the classic Stone Soup, Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin, and Saturday at the Food Pantry by Diane O’Neill.

  • Saturday, December 17 from 1-3 p.m. – Northeast Branch Library
  • Wednesday, December 28 from 2-5 p.m. – Dr. B.L. Perry, Jr. Branch Library
  • Saturday, January 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Eastside Branch Library
  • Thursday, January 12 from 3-6 p.m. – Woodville Branch Library
  • Saturday, January 14 from 1-3 p.m. – Lake Jackson Branch Library
  • Saturday, January 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Fort Braden Branch Library

Health Fair and Mobile Medical Unit Visit

In partnership with Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Leon County Government is hosting a community health fair and mobile medical unit visit at two Leon County Public Library locations in December. During the event, citizens can receive free health screenings from the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church Mobile Medical Unit, assistance with health insurance enrollment, and information on dental care and other services available in the community.

The event will take place at the following library locations:

  • Saturday, December 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fort Braden Branch Library, 16327 Blountstown Hwy. Learn more.
  • Saturday, December 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Woodville Branch Library, 8000 Old Woodville Hwy. Learn more.

Retire Old Rubber with Tire Amnesty Days

Leon County Government, in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, is hosting its annual Tire Amnesty Days program, a free tire collection to reduce mosquito breeding grounds. Now through Friday, May 26, 2023, citizens can drop off old tires for free at the following Leon County facilities:

  • Leon County Solid Waste Facility, 7550 Apalachee Pkwy.
  • Rural Waste Center – Woodville, 549 Henry Jones Rd.
  • Rural Waste Center – Fort Braden, 2485 East Joe Thomas Rd.
  • Rural Waste Center – Miccosukee, 13051 Miccosukee Rd.
Residents may dispose of up to 25 passenger car tires free of charge. Commercial loads will not be accepted. Tires without rims are preferred.
