Leon County Government invites the community to the latest installment of the award-winning Library Lecture Series on Monday, March 31, from 6-7:30 p.m. at the downtown Main Library. This engaging lecture will explore how medieval Italian poet Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy offers timeless wisdom on human connection and friendship.
During this program, Dr. Beth Coggeshall, professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at Florida State University, will examine how Dante’s insights into human nature, divine justice, and the afterlife provide a fresh perspective on building meaningful relationships.
Dr. Coggeshall specializes in medieval Italian literature, with a focus on Dante’s works and their impact on contemporary culture. She is the author of On Amistà: Negotiating Friendship in Dante’s Italy and co-editor of Dante Today: Citings and Sightings of Dante’s Works in Contemporary Culture, a digital archive showcasing Dante’s lasting influence.
