Leon County Lecture Series Looks Inside Florida’s Constitution Revision Commission

WHERE: LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Library, 200 W. Park Ave. On Monday, November 27 at 7 p.m., Leon County’s Library Lecture Series returns with “The Room Where it Happens: An Insider’s View of the Constitution Revision Commission” presented by G.C. Murray, Jr., Esq. The lecture will be held at the LeRoy Collins Leon County Main Library, 200 W. Park Ave. Once every 20 years, the Constitution Revision Commission convenes to conduct a thorough review and propose amendments to the Florida Constitution. This lecture will discuss the history and importance of the Constitution Revision Commission, the major players, the background noise, and predictions of what will change in Florida's Constitution. G. C. Murray, Jr., Esq. serves as the Florida Justice Association’s Deputy General Counsel and works with the legal, political, and legislative teams. He earned his Juris Doctor from The Florida State University College of Law where he was a Mason Ladd Scholar, Calvin Patterson Civil Rights Scholar, and a distinguished Pro Bono Award winner. In 2016, G. C. was the first African-American lawyer to be elected as a Second Judicial Circuit Governor for the Florida Bar Young Lawyer Division and became the youngest lawyer appointed to the Florida Bar’s Code and Rules of Evidence Committee. Over the past year, Leon County has hosted three Library Lecture Series presented by nationally renowned speakers. From levitation demonstrations with the MagLab to early beginnings of Historically Black Colleges and Universities to how to have meaningful conversations, each lecture has been engaging and inspiring.
