Leon County, KCCI to Unveil First of Three Fully Booked Placemaking Projects

WHO:  Leon County Government, the Friends of the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library, and the Knight Creative Communities Institute
WHAT:  Fully Booked Placemaking Project Ribbon Cutting
WHEN:  Thursday, August 25 at 10 a.m.
WHERE:  Leon County Eastside Branch Library, 1583 Pedrick Road

Leon County Government, the Friends of the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library, and the Knight Creative Communities Institute (KCCI) invite the community to the unveiling of the first installment of the Fully Booked placemaking project on Thursday, August 25, at 10 a.m. at Pedrick Pond Park outside the Leon County Eastside Branch Library, 1583 Pedrick Road.

The Fully Booked placemaking project will include the Wander and Wonder Trail that allows visitors to explore nature and their imagination as they follow the trail of book pages. The nearly half-mile trail will inspire literacy through art and create a place that promotes both physical and mental health. The books along the trail will be updated periodically with new titles for families to enjoy. The first book to be featured at Pedrick Pond Park is Señorita Mariposa by Ben Gundersheimer. In addition to the Wander and Wonder Trail, the Fully Booked project at Pedrick Pond Park will consist of a hammock garden and book-themed benches along the trail.

In September, two other installments of the Fully Booked placemaking project will be opened at the Leon County Fort Braden Branch Library and the Leon County J. Lewis Hall Sr. Woodville Park and Recreation Complex.
