Leon County invites you to #GetTrained at the sixth annual “Press the Chest” – a community-wide CPR training event – on Saturday, June 11, at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, 505 W. Pensacola St., from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m.
Press the Chest 2016 is an annual event that focuses on the importance of providing the community with the skills, knowledge and confidence to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). To register, visit www.LeonCountyFL.gov/PressTheChest .
Since 2010, Leon County has trained nearly 7,000 people with hands-on instruction on how to do CPR correctly. Like the past five years, highly credentialed Leon County Emergency Medical Services personnel will teach the recommendations made by the American Heart Association These recommendations include C-A-B (Compressions-Airway-Breathing) along with the new emphasis on “Hands-Only CPR.” Participants will also be taught how to use Automated External Defibrillators. This is not a certification event.
Each participant of “Press the Chest” CPR 2016 will receive an American Heart Association personal “CPR Anytime” kit containing a CPR manikin, DVD, and educational materials. The kits are for participants to train family and friends on CPR. The event will be hosted in collaboration with the FSU First Responders program, FAMU Student Health Services, Bond Community Health Center, LifeFlight Tallahassee, Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare and Capital Regional Medical Center.
