Leon County Government invites the community to the 29th Annual Volunteer Fire Truck Round-Up, honoring the County’s volunteer firefighters. This family-friendly event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tom Brown Park by the dog park near Lake Leon.
Free and open to the public, this event celebrates the dedication and service of Leon County’s volunteer firefighters. During the event, residents can meet the County’s six volunteer fire departments, tour fire trucks, and take photos with firefighters and trucks. Attendees can enjoy free food, music, and family activities, including a bounce house, face painting, games, giveaways, and more.
At 11 a.m., the Jack Harron Volunteer Firefighter of the Year Award will be presented to a volunteer firefighter who demonstrates outstanding character and puts “service above self.” Chief Jack Harron served 17 years as fire chief and played a pivotal role in launching the annual Volunteer Firefighter Fire Truck Round-Up. Throughout his career, Harron exemplified putting service to the community above service to self.
Information on how to become a volunteer firefighter will also be available at the event, and attendees can speak with current volunteer firefighters to learn more about the rewards of joining this vital team. To learn more about Leon County’s volunteer fire department, visit LeonCountyFL.gov/VFD.
