Leon County and the American Legion to Honor Veterans at 10th Annual Operation Thank You Community Breakfast

 
WHO:  Leon County Government and American Legion Sauls-Bridges Post 13 
WHAT:  Operation Thank You Veterans Day Community Breakfast
WHEN:  Friday, November 11 from 6:30-9 a.m.
WHERE:  American Legion, 229 Lake Ella Drive

After coordinating with the National Weather Service and the American Legion, the Leon County Operation Thank You event will continue on Veterans Day. To ensure everyone remains comfortable, food service will be moved from outside to inside the Lake Ella American Legion Hall Post 13. Should the forecast change, the County will make an announcement about the event through email and via our social media channels.

Leon County Government and American Legion Sauls-Bridges Post 13 invite veterans, their families, and the community to the Operation Thank You Veterans Day breakfast on Friday, November 11 from 6:30 to 9 a.m. at the American Legion, 229 Lake Ella Drive. At 8 a.m., a ceremony will be held honoring the service and sacrifice of those who served our country. 
 
Leon County Commissioners, County staff, American Legion members, and community volunteers will be serving breakfast to veterans. Each veteran in attendance will receive an Operation Thank You Commemorative Challenge Coin. 
  
This event is free and open to the public.
 
Leon County remains committed to supporting local veterans throughout the year with services and programs offered by the Leon County Division of Veteran Services. The Division assists veterans and their dependents in securing all entitled benefits earned through their honorable military service, and advocates for veterans’ interests in the community. During the last year, the Division has helped Leon County veterans receive more than $23 million in benefits and assisted 24 veterans through the Veterans Emergency Assistance Program, a program that assists veterans meet critical basic needs such as rent, utilities, and transportation. 
 
Since 2012, Leon County has held Operation Thank You events annually, giving the community an opportunity to thank the brave men and women who have served or continue to serve. The Operation Thank You breakfast is one of the community’s largest events to show appreciation for the more than 17,000 veterans who call Leon County home.
