Leon County’s Library Lecture Series continues with “Lessons from Bogotá and Beyond: Walking, Bicycling, and Creating a Vibrant and Healthy City” by Gil Penalosa, the internationally recognized founder/chair of 8 80 Cites. The lecture will give an interactive look into innovative solutions that communities around the world use to enhance mobility and build people-oriented communities on Monday, October 1 at 7 p.m. at Fifth and Thomas, 1122 Thomasville Road.
Penalosa will share his experience designing cities from around the globe using the 8 80 Cities philosophy: if everything we do in our cities is great for an 8 year old and an 80 year old, then it will be great for all people.
Penalosa has helped more than 300 cities around the world create healthy, vibrant, and sustainable communities for everyone, regardless of age, gender, social, economic, or ethnic background. This lecture is sure to be great for planners and citizens alike.
