Leon County Hosts Lake Jackson Clean Up

WHERE: Beginner paddler: Rhoden Cove, 801 Rhoden Cove Road
Experienced paddler: Crowder Landing, 1053 Crowder Road
Experienced paddler: Fuller Road Landing, 1294 Fuller Road
Leon County Government invites the community to participate in an on the water cleanup of Lake Jackson on Saturday, September 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In partnership with, Tall Timbers, Friends of Lake Jackson, Florida Department of Environmental Protection Office of Greenways and Trails, and Sustainable Tallahassee, Leon County citizens will spend the morning in canoes and kayaks to clean up litter on Lake Jackson. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own canoe or kayak, however, limited canoes and kayaks will be provided for those that don’t have their own.
Not only will the clean up help foster the love that citizens have for the County’s water bodies, it will help ensure that these resources are conserved, protected, and enjoyed by future generations.
Canoes and kayaks will only be provided at Rhoden Cove. If you need to borrow a free canoe or kayak, or if you are a beginner bringing your own, please register for Rhoden Cove.
If you are a bringing your own canoe or kayak and are comfortable on the water, please select Crowder Landing or Fuller Road Landing.

Outdoor recreating is one of the most sustainable things anyone can do. It consumes minimal to no energy and connects citizens to the community. Spending more time in nature has been known to make people happier, less stressed, and better stewards of our natural resources.
