In Preparation for Tropical Storm Hermine, Leon County Closes Offices on Friday and Recommends Drivers Stay Off Roads
As Tropical Storm Hermine strengthens in the Gulf of Mexico, Leon County will close County offices and libraries on Friday, September 2. All essential storm response and recovery teams will remain on call and ready to respond.
From Thursday evening through Friday, Leon County recommends drivers stay off roads whenever possible. Heavy rainfall and strong winds will make driving dangerous. Even after the storm passes, drivers should avoid travel so as to allow first responders and Public Works crews to quickly remove debris and respond to emergency needs.
Updates on changing conditions such as road closures, sandbag locations, weather advisories, and more, can be found on the Leon County Emergency Information Portal at www.LeonCountyFL.gov/EI . Citizens who require more information should call Leon County Emergency Management at (850) 606-3700.
