How Do We Grow from Here: Fast, Right, or Not at All?

Leon County and The Village Square Seek Feedback on Growth and Conservation

WHAT:    Club of Honest Citizens: How Do We Grow from Here

WHEN:    Monday, May 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.           

WHERE:  St. John’s Episcopal Church, 211 N. Monroe St.

Join Leon County Government and The Village Square on Monday, May 6 to answer the question, How Do We Grow from Here? This Club of Honest Citizens event will engage participants in a discussion on how your neighborhood, city, and county will look in the next 20 years.

Attendees will hear from a panel of experts and community members from neighborhood associations, developers, environmentalists, and universities.  

Panelists include:

  • Mike Brezin, Alliance of Tallahassee Neighborhoods
  • Autumn Calder, Blueprint Intergovernmental Agency
  • Tim Chapin, Florida State University College of Social Sciences and Public Policy
  • Neil Fleckenstein, Tall Timbers
  • Pamela Hall, Leon County Resident
  • Christic Henry, Council of Neighborhood Association
  • Ed Murray, NAI Talcor
  • Todd Sperry, Oliver Sperry Renovation
  • Barry Wilcox, Leon County Development Support & Environmental Management, Moderator

After the panel, participants will have the opportunity to engage in conversations with other community members with questions like, how can different types of housing be woven into neighborhoods? What level of density should be allowed in rural areas? As our community continues to grow, how do we achieve sustainable development patterns within the Urban Services Area? Input provided will be included in the Tallahassee- Leon County Comprehensive Plan.

The program begins at 6 p.m. Food trucks will be available at 5 p.m.

The Club of Honest Citizens brings together Leon County’s nationally recognized Citizen Engagement Series and Village Square’s popular Our Town Series to create a unique new program, which blends the best elements of both series by providing transparency of County government while building relationships through social civic gatherings.
