Created Equal Event Continues Crucial Community Dialogue
Leon County and Village Square Host Talk on Race Relations

WHO: Leon County and The Village Square
WHAT: Created Equal: A Conversation about Race, Founding Ideals, and Our Hometown
WHEN: Tuesday, January 9 at 6 p.m.
WHERE: The Moon, 1105 E. Lafayette St.

As part of the Club of Honest Citizens series, Leon County and The Village Square will host “Created Equal: A Conversation about Race, Founding Ideals, and Our Hometown” on Tuesday, January 9 at 6 p.m. at The Moon, 1105 E. Lafayette St. The event invites citizens to participate in an evening of stories and lived experiences told by members of our own community.

“This event provides a safe space for hard but much needed discussions about racial equality and racial disparities,” said Leon County Commission Chairman Nick Maddox. “This Club of Honest Citizens event will help our community talk about and face these issues and many more so that we can own them and change them.”

This year, Created Equal will begin with speakers who live and work right here at home. One by one, six diverse individuals will share with the audience what it’s like to take a walk in their shoes. Beyond race, speakers differ in gender, political affiliation, and religious beliefs. Their stories will kick-off the dialogue for the night.

“For the third year in a row, Leon County and The Village Square will bring together the community to discuss issues that matter the most to our community such as the state of race relations,” said Leon County Administrator Vincent S. Long. “This nationally recognized event engages citizens and shapes our community.”
