In celebration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, Florida A&M University faculty member Maurice Johnson will take attendees on a journey through the historical origins of hip-hop culture.
During the lecture, Johnson will explore the response of hip-hop to socioeconomic and political oppression and help attendees gain a better understanding of the artistic expression of hip-hop music and how it can be used as an educational tool.
The Leon County Library Lecture Series is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
